WHEW

I’m throwing my Christmas list out there early:

1. Marcus Mixx records, especially this one. It’s like the Tickle-Me-Elmo of Marcus Mixx records.

2. A new laptop. This one makes a sickly noise when I turn it on or unsleep it, one which I believe bespells doom.

3. New neighbors who are as cool about me playing music as my current neighbors are.

Alright, that’s out of the way. I’ve been pretty busy over at Little White Earbuds, so this blog hasn’t been getting so much love. But my buddy David, who runs a brand-spanking-new graphic design shop down in Florida, pimped it while I was gone, so enjoy the new high-end design flourishes. I even got myself some business cards, in the interest of trying to make myself even more busy.

Speaking of Little White Earbuds, I have something big on the way for that site, followed by something big on the way for this site, so watch out.

Also to follow: the reason why you’re penciling me in for Halloween. You’ll have to try not to get drunk as that dude up there.

DETTMANN | ROTHLEIN

I had the distinct pleasure this past Friday night of sitting on a bench on North 6th in Williamsburg for an inspiring chat about living and breathing techno with Marcel Dettmann. I followed this distinct pleasure with another one: listening to this literal giant of classic jams play straight into one bright, blue Fourth of July morning. You may know Marcel as the dark prince of a dance floor infamous for leathered-up public sex, but I’ll be damned if he didn’t let more than a little sunlight into his grooves this time around. The conversation has been entrusted to Little White Earbuds, so watch that space for our interview in full.

I’ve been pretty terrible about blogging/doing blogworthy things/sitting still for more than five minutes recently. Might I recommend that in the meantime you check out what I’ve been doing for Little White Earbuds?

Forthcoming: new party. Start date: early fall. Anyone have a loft (I promise I will clean afterwards!!!)? Anyone want to recommend a venue with a dance floor and cheap beer?

AND PICK UP THE NEW WIRE DAMMIT! Sherburne does an excellent, inspiring write-up on Moritz Von Oswald and his all-star Trio that will get you hella excited for Vertical Ascent, which is out at the end of next month. I’ve heard it, and if your ears are anything like mine, their little ear-brains will be fucking blown to smithereens.

UPCOMING: FULL SERVICE RAEV X

I usually twiddle my thumbs until a few days before the event to put up a post, but this absolutely can’t wait. The Full Service crew descends on Club Love on May 23 for RAEV X, and we’re looking to make it our loudest, sweatiest, and most glowstick-addled shindig yet. Added bonus (or major bummer, depending on your sleep habits): Mo/rdan returns to the party’s 2am-close time slot, so expect things to get a little filthy (and j-j-jackin’) before the night is finished. Dig it!

In other sweet techno news, I have just joined the writing staff at venerable dance music blog Little White Earbuds! I’ve been a daily reader of that site for quite some time now, so it will be very strange to see my own name pop up underneath a post. If you’re at all interested in reading me blabber on about the sort of music I throw down on mixes here and parties elsewhere, then be sure to watch that space. But the LLC shall live on. Podcast soon, I swear!
